Henna Night Reimagined transformeert de traditionele Turkse Henna Night, een Anatolische overgangsrite die meestal draait om de aanstaande bruid en maatschappelijke normen.

In plaats daarvan is Henna Night Reimagined een kritische voorstelling die zelfbevrijding viert via een queer verhaal. In tegenstelling tot de traditionele Henna Night, die vaak gekenmerkt wordt door een trieste toon, wordt deze speculatieve voorstelling een viering van de menselijke ervaring door het ritueel zo te veranderen dat het ook queer identiteiten omvat en onze relatie met de bredere ecologie.

İpek M. Sur is a curator, creative producer, connector and researcher based in Amsterdam. Her interdisciplinary practice moves fluidly between visual arts, performance, film, and socially engaged projects, often centered on themes of healing, migration, collective memory, identity, and transformation. Rooted in care, reciprocity, and deep listening, her work creates spaces for reflection, connection, and restoration.

She is the founder and Artistic Director of the 7 Hills Foundation, and studied at Leiden University, the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, and Marmara University’s Faculty of Arts in Istanbul. With a background in photography fine arts, dance, and music, her practice is grounded in a sensuous, embodied approach that embraces museums, theaters, and public space alike.

In her former role as Senior Policy Advisor for Culture at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, İpek gained extensive experience in developing international projects that connect people across borders through art. She brings strategic insight into cultural diplomacy, sustainability, and transnational collaboration as core values of her practice.

She is currently involved in several international initiatives, including Diamonds Are Forever, Açık Mülk – Open House, and Collective Healing, and serves on advisory boards such as Nineties Productions. Her work emphasizes process, presence, and the transformative power of art in public life.
